Robert G. Richardson, FCA
Robert is the founder and President of Compass Commercial Realty and has worked in commercial real estate brokerage, management, development, and financing since 1986 when he qualified as a Chartered Accountant (FCA - 2006).
In addition to Compass Commercial Realty, Robert is also a founding Director and shareholder of Killam Properties Inc., a TSX listed real estate company having a portfolio of $750 million invested in apartments and manufactured home communities throughout Canada (TSX:KMP). As well, Robert is a founding Director and shareholder of RediShred Capital Corporation, a TSX Venture listed company focused on consolidating paper shredding and document destruction businesses in the United States.
Prior to starting Compass Commercial Realty in 2000, Robert was the Regional Director for Oxford Properties Group Inc., having sold his 50% interest in Fencorp Properties Limited to Oxford in 1997. At that time, Fencorp was the largest third-party property management and brokerage firm in Atlantic Canada.
In addition to Robert's corporate activities, he is also on the Boards of the YMCA of Greater Halifax /Dartmouth, the IWK Health Centre, and is the Campaign Treasurer for the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia's Capital Campaign.
Chris is Vice President & General Manager of Compass Commercial Realty and is responsible for all real estate functions including leasing, brokerage and management.
Working in the real estate industry since 1992, his experience has been gained through the management, brokerage and leasing of office/retail, multi-residential and industrial properties for both a regional property management firm and a national property management firm.
Chris has developed an extensive knowledge of the Atlantic Canadian market and co-ordinates the marketing efforts of Compass. Chris is a licensed real estate agent and a graduate of Saint Mary's University with a Bachelor of Commerce.
Bob is responsible for the company's property management and brokerage business in Ontario. Bob has brokered/co-brokered 18 commercial property sales since 2005 and is the Broker of Record for Compass in Ontario.
From 2001 – 2002, Bob was the VP Business Development for Riocan REIT and from 1994 – 2001 Bob worked for Oxford Properties where he held management and leasing positions, including General Manager. Bob has also worked for a national retailer, a shopping centre developer and as a leasing consultant.
Paul Hiscock, B.Comm
Paul is responsible for the Property Management function at Compass. Paul has in excess of 18 years of commercial real estate experience. He joined Compass in 2007 after working with the Kimberly Lloyd Development (KLD) group of companies for 8 years.
Paul was General Manager at KLD and was responsible for the administration of 3rd party contracts for Clarke Transport's real estate portfolio across Canada; for KLD's local Commercial Portfolio; and for the P-3 school division, Scotia Learning Centres, which Paul was responsible for all aspects of management of 14 P-3 school projects in N.B. and N.S. Prior to KLD, Paul held the position of General Manager with Greenwood Lane Property Management, since the company's inception of the Property Management division until June 1999.
Paul obtained his Bachelor of Commerce degree, with a dual major in accounting and finance, from Saint Mary’s University in 1985. Paul brings a varied range of property management skills and expertise to Compass and prides himself on having a strong accounting background, a hands-on approach to property management and a desire to provide professional service to his clients and tenants.
Anne-Marie Byrne, Corporate Administrator/Leasing Associate
Anne Marie is a licensed real estate salesperson and has worked in commercial real estate for the past 25 years. Over that period she has become proficient in all aspects of real estate leasing, management and office administration. Prior to joining Compass in 2001, Anne Marie has held the following corporate positions:
Corporate Accountant, Accounting Supervisor, Office Manager/Administrator for The Hardman Group (1993 - 2001). The Hardman Group owned and managed a portfolio of $250 million.
Office Manager and Corporate/Property Accountant for Ryco Atlantic Limited (1984 - 1994). Ryco Atlantic Limited was a full service real estate development, management, leasing, and sales and brokerage firm.
Kevin Nettle, Manager Leasing & Brokerage
Kevin is a licensed real estate salesperson and brings with him a strong background from the service sector, having held senior sales positions with a national hotel chain and most recently with a local moving & storage company in Halifax.
Kevin's extensive sales and marketing experience coupled with his customer driven sales approach makes him a valued member of the leasing and brokerage team.
A native of Halifax Kevin has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Acadia University and a Business Degree, majoring in Hospitality Management from Mount St. Vincent University.
Kevin has a thorough knowledge of the Halifax marketplace, an honest direct approach to customer services and a keen eye for detail. Kevin's primary responsibility is for the leasing and sales brokerage functions at Compass.
Kendal Carter, CGA
Kendal is the Controller of Compass Commercial Realty and is responsible for the overall accounting and financial reporting functions within the company. Kendal gained her real estate knowledge working for Oxford Properties, where she held the position of Property Accountant, and, more recently, with Summit REIT, where she was a Senior Financial Accountant. Kendal has over 10 years experience in the real estate industry and over that time has gained invaluable real estate familiarity.
Kendal has a Bachelor of Commerce from Concordia University in Montreal and earned her Certified General Accountant's (CGA) designation in 2004.
Cory is a licensed real estate salesperson and has worked in the property management field since 2000 with Compass Commercial Realty. During this time he has been responsible for the maintenance, day-to-day operations and reporting for a portfolio of properties consisting of approximately 500 apartment units and approximately 250,000 s.f. of office space.
Cory's primary role is the Residential Property Management function at Compass. Cory uses a "hands-on" approach to maintain high occupancy and low accounts receivable levels in his managed portfolio. Cory maintains a good rapport with his on-site staff and is responsive to the needs of his tenants.
Ian joined Compass Commercial Realty as Property Manger for the newly acquired Moncton Portfolio. Ian oversees the operations of 6 commercial buildings as the main point of contact for tenants and service suppliers.
Ian has over 15 years of Operational Management experience, specializing in: Customer Service, Fiscal Management, Facility Management, Asset Protection, Human Resources and Health Safety.
Prior to joining Compass, Ian was the Regional Manager of Operations for Empire Theatres Limited from March 1999 to April 2009. He was responsible for the complete operation of Empire's 12 facilities in the Maritimes, as well as its 300+ employees. Before Empire Theatres, Ian worked in the Hospitality Industry, including several Restorts and Hotels in Ontario and Halifax, N.S. His most recent position was with the Radisson Suites Hotel as the Director of Housekeeping and Food Beverage Services. Ian joined the Radisson Hotel as part of the opening team in February 1996 and left in 1999 to join Empire Theatres.
Ian graduated from Georgian College, Barrie, Ontario, with a Diploma in Resort and Hotel Administration in 1989 and received his "Certified Hospitality Supervisor Designation" from the American Hotel & Motel Association in 1995.
Ian is a true leader who has a proven track record for "getting the job done with integrity and passion". Improving customer services, maintaining and implementing operational efficiencies, while displaying a "willingness to learn", has been a focus of his for many years and this will continue with Compass Commercial Realty.
